Toshiba Qosmio 505 was launched in October 2009 and anyone can be imporessed by looking it in a first sight. It got the gorgeous 18.4 inches full HD screen, sppedy solid state drive, extremely fast Core i7 quad core performance processor. Now Toshiba has updated the syste, with even faster processor and graphics card that over all cost goes around $2000. It is the ultimate desktop replacement. Let’s have a look on its features.

Design
The Qosmio X505-Q890 has an identitical chasis to the original one which is good. Its glossy black plastic chassis give it more adult look and feel like a perfect gaming notebook. On the back of the lid there is interlocking grid pattern and attractive Qosmio logo. The lid, base and speakers are outlined with metallic red trim while the two touchpad buttons have same metallic red color. Its dimensions are 17.4 x 11.6 x 1.6 inches and weight 10.6 pounds which is 0.2 pounds heavier than previous version and therefore it is not a kind of system that you carry around much but if you compare to an average gaming laptops and compact enough to lug with you to a LAN party. With a nice laptop bag you can carry it nicely.

Keyboard and Touchpad
It has 104 key keyboard with numeric keypad that include lights so that gamers can play in a low light environment too. Though there is plenty of area to streatch your fingers, the keyboards glossy surface can feel a bit slippery and narrow space between the keys may pose an accuracy challenge for people having long nails. An expert tested his typing speed over it and found that the score was higher than its original speed. The touchpad dimensions are 3.2 x 1.6 inch with two big mouse buttons that give great accuracy. It also supports multi-touch gesture like pinch to zoom.

Heat
In the earlier version there was some heat issues with the Qosmio X505 but when the tests were occurred with the Qosmio X505 then it was found that it stays extremely cool at all major touch points. When a full screen web video is streamed for 15 minutes, the temperatures were 83 degrees Fahrenheit on touchpad, 86 degrees Fahrenheit on keyboard and 91 degrees Fahrenheit on bottom which are really low temperatures. But unfortunately Qosmio X505-890 is bit hotter if you use serious applications like huge multi-player high-graphics based games for long time.

Display and Sound
The Qosmio X505-Q890 is made for gaming but it is a perfect multimedia system too. It got the 18.4 inches 1920x1080 pixels screen is the main highlight of this laptop. The Harmon Kardon Speakers are superb and give good quality audio experience.

Ports and Webcam
It has number of ports. On the right side there are two USB ports, audio in/out and VGA out. On left side it has Ethernet, HDMI, a Firewire 400 port, ExpressCard/54 reader and a USB/eSATA port. On front side there is 5-in-1 memory card reader and Wi-Fi on/off switch. It has 1.3 megapixel webcam that take impressive sharp and bright images in various environments.

Performance
It has 1.73 GHz Core i7 Q740 CPU that has 4 high speed cores that can run 8 threads at once that means you are getting better multitasking on multithreaded apps. NVidia GeForce GTS 360M discrete graphics card that loaded with 1GB graphics memory and 2 storage drives, a speedy 64GB SSD boot drive and a 7200 rpm 500GB hard drive. Due to 64GB SSD windows 7 home premium (64-bit) in a fast 52 secords which is very fast than other similar systems.

Graphics and Gaming
NVidia GeForce GTS 360M graphics made Qosmio X505-Q890 faster than any other average gaming laoptop. It is great for playing highly demanding 3D games. It is perfect for extremely intense graphics games like Call of Duty: Modern Warface 2 or Far Cry 2 etc.

Battery Life and Wi-Fi
Since these laptops have so intense gaming standards, you should not expect much battery life from these big notebooks but still the Qosmio X505-Q890 gives 2 hours 51 minutes that is higher than other gaming laptops. It has Realtek RTL8191 802.11 n radio managed strong transfer rates of 40.2 and 25.5 Mbps at distances of 15 and 50 feet from router.

Price
If you are getting so many things then it is pretty obvious that it will cost too and yes it is a perfect gaming laptop with a perfect price. Its price is $1,899.99 which is around 88,383 Indian Rupees. Expectations are that it will be available at the end of this year in Indian market. Toshiba Laptops in India are always known for their performance and style and Qosmio X505-Q890 has again proved this statement.
